Recently, the Xiaohongmen Reclaimed Water Plant's biogas power generation project was successfully connected to the grid for power generation. This milestone event marks the comprehensive implementation of biogas grid connected power generation in five Beijing reclaimed water plants, including Gaobeidian and Gao'antun, and the construction of a large-scale biomass energy utilization system. It is reported that the total installed capacity of gas power generation units in five water plants reaches 25.6 megawatts, with an expected annual power generation of 70 million kilowatt hours, which can achieve an annual reduction of 42000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The efficient operation of gas-fired power generation units relies on a "clean and efficient" green energy cycle system. After being treated through processes such as concentration, pre dehydration, and hydrothermal hydrolysis, the sludge is sent to an anaerobic digestion tank. Microorganisms decompose the organic matter in the sludge to produce biogas, which is then processed through a supporting biogas desulfurization and pressure boosting pretreatment system to remove impurities and convert it into high-quality fuel, providing stable power for gas generators. After the generator set generates electricity, the high-temperature flue gas waste heat generated can be used as a heat medium for steam boilers to bear the heating and steam loads in the plant area. The cooling water is used to heat the heating return water and production makeup water, truly realizing the "power generation+heating" cogeneration mode and maximizing energy utilization.

To ensure emissions meet standards, the project is equipped with a biogas desulfurization pretreatment system and a tail gas denitrification treatment system, which will "block pollutants at the source" and strictly comply with the relevant requirements of the "Emission Standards for Air Pollutants from Thermal Power Plants" (GB 13223-2003) to ensure compliance with waste gas emissions. This not only avoids the greenhouse effect of direct methane emissions, but also protects the ecological environment, achieving a transition from "environmental burden" to "green resources".

The practice of five recycled water plants in Beijing fully demonstrates the core value of gas-fired power generation units in the field of municipal environmental protection. At present, Beijing Drainage Group has established a full chain sludge resource disposal system for these 5 water plants, with a daily sludge processing capacity of 6128 tons, achieving 100% harmless treatment of sludge in the central urban area and becoming a benchmark for biomass energy utilization in the national sewage treatment industry. In addition to biogas power generation, the group is also simultaneously laying out photovoltaic power generation and building a "light biogas complementary" green energy system.
